AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player who is captain and striker for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) the top level of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team alongside Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe from the year 2018 until 2020. [8][9] Morgan was chosen by the Western New York Flash at number one in the 2011 WPS Draft. She had completed her studies at Berkeley in the early part of the year. Morgan also played for California Golden Bears. In the team, she made her professional debut and played in the team's win of the league title. Morgan was only 22 at the time, and was the youngest member of the national team in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team finished second. In the 2012 London Olympics Morgan scored the winning goal in the 123rd minute of the semi-final clash against Canada. She finished 2012 with 28 goals and 21 assists as she joined Mia Hamm as the only American woman to score 20 goals and score 20 assists in the same calendar year and becoming the sixth youngest U.S. player to score 20 goals in one season. The following year, she was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year and was a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan was also instrumental in the United States winning their titles at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and 2019. She was selected for both the Dream Team for both tournaments. In 2019, she was awarded the Silver Boot.
