Niykee continues to write songs despite having been caught up in the current turmoil. She was hand-picked for the YouTube Brandcast by Snoop and the rapper was with her on stage. A producer magnet Niykee constantly sifts through beats being sent to her. She has found that the majority of them spark new music ideas. "I'll be able tell within 5 minutes if this is a quality beat. Once I've a melody in my brain, I will start writing right away." As I play my guitar outside on my porch, words start to flow. A majority of the time it is completed in just 30 minutes. Niykee is continuing to improve her abilities as a poet and the lyricist. She explains how the pain she experienced during her childhood is a constant source of unusual ideas. "Even when I don't write about my life directly the grief of losing my sister and the pain of my childhood is incorporated into my music," she says. It shapes my songs and creates a deeper meaning under everything which is one the most important things to me--I need to know that I can listen to any one of my songs 20 years later and be proud of what I had to say.
